To the someone who make my day everyday ;)

November 16, 2008

Happy 26th (finally) to my dearest soul-mate, my best friend, my right hand-man whom i can’t function properly without, and most of all the partner i’m so privileged to call my husband.

happiest birthday once again a neh! ;)

xoxoxo!

love you longggg time!

yet another birthday post!! :D

November 6, 2008

Birthday celebrations just kept going on and on .. especially towards the end of the year (anyone noticed that trend?) Not complaining, but daymn… itu poket berlubang-lubang come end of the year! *breaks cold sweat* :D

it’s abit of a late post also (as usual), but here’s HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our last mom Mr. CY nonetheless :) Due to his ‘very busy dinner schedule’ of late, we have to pre-book our appointment with him for a dinner date :D teehee! This uncle actually thought we don’t remember the date! We are family, uncle, of course we remember! 20th of Oct every year. Now everyone remembers!

Went Cave again cuz it’s really nice plus our birthday uncle and our special family member all the way from JB haven’t been there before. Same same but different :)

What happened next is like a broken record playing in the background! wakakaka! Just a teeny lil’ bit more special – we get the waitress to bring the cake up out of the blue :D Same like the last time we dined there, we got ourselves a ‘hole’ that fits the 7 of us. though this time the music was a bit disturbing.. a bit too loud and out of tune. hahaha. We ate and laughed till our hearts’ (n tummies’) content and then laughed and ate more!

All in all, another night filled with love and warmth (and catching up with the ’stranded’ family member :D ) Happy Birthday once again Mr. CY, another year wiser ;) muacks!

toodles for this post.. but of course not without a whole lot of pics first! Enjoy!

*all pictures in this blog is fully owned by the owner of this blog! only family members and chosen one (with your’s truly’s permission) are allowed to steal/re-use. other than that, you’ll be sued! :D

Another Birthday Post

November 1, 2008

It’s almost a month late, but this aunty still deserve a whole post to herself as another that hit the 26-sack :D

nerdy auntie

She’s none other than our very own mother-of-all aunties :D hehehe.. *just kidding larr*

We celebrated the royal-aunty-highness’ at a nice and quiet restaurant/bistro/cafe @ Cave. It’s all of our first time there and it is quite cool. The concept of the whole place is as its name – Cave, and Doctor said claustrophobic people will have a difficult time dining there :D

Right, back to the aunty. we got ourselves the bigger ‘hole’ that fits 6 of us just nicely and took loads of pics- mostly with my new geeky-specs (birthday aunty was wearing in the above pics) that aunty lim bought for me alllll the way from Taiwan :P muacks muacks.

The usuals, eat, talk, talk, talk more, laughs, eat, snaps and ‘attempt to surprise’ :D hahaha Really beh tahan. eventhough we know EVERYTIME it kinda foil, we NEVER give up trying. see, we love each other so much we want to make it special and memorable for him/her even with a glimpse of hope :D . This one’s was carried out by our endearing ma. :D he walked ALL the way to the cake shop (in between his meals) to get the cake before the shop closes! BRAVO! BRAVO! Ade, now you know how much ma love you! :)

Lim, see how much everyone loved that glasses of mine? hehehe (i swear i did not force it on them)

After a whole load of photo frenzies, we balik rumah to continue with the celebration :D (cake & sing-song) and right before we left, as usual, a family photo, and what is family photo without aunty jas rite? hehehe. It’s like you never left for London yo!

Then aunty waited for her candles to be lighted, song to be sang, pictures to be taken and proceeded with making  a lotsa wishes, cutting the cake and forcing everyone to finish the cake. haha :D

It was another heart-warming time together. I love birthday celebrations. Aunty, I hope you enjoyed the day although not very glamorous or a hyped one :)

MUACKS!

one more for the album ;)

Miri (Part Two)

September 24, 2008

Warning: Post contains more pictures! Again, don’t complain :D

Right, finally the part two! :D hope you all are not bored already yet. Don’t worry.. part two won’t have much blabs…will just dump in the pics, as the pics explains why i lurve my trip to Miri this time around so much more! No fancy pansy pictures though. So sit back and go Miri with me! ;)

docked

This second part of my Miri travelogue is to catch the sunset by the sea, right beside an expensive seafood restaurant – Marina Bay. We did not dine there, just hang around to marvel the beautiful scenery and wait for the sun to set :D . It was around 4ish 5 when we reached and the sun did not set till about 7 -______-” . Actually, this is not the ONLY interesting point, cause’ I mainly wanna go up-close to the lighthouse, camouflaged as a seahorse! that i caught a glimpse of from our room in the Marriott. We were told it was inaccessible the first time I was in Miri, but then we did not just gave up :) hehe.. and woot! I found the path to the ‘forbidden’ lighthouse.. teehehehe..

the planks leading to the lighthouse

FINALLY found!

TA-DAAAAA!!

Compulsory Shot with the Hai-Beh

Nice right the seahorse sculpture cum lighthouse? (Btw, seahorse is the official mascot of Miri .. I see seahorse sculptures everywhere!) I think it’s cool! It seems like it’s guarding the sea with that pair of glassy eyes, only it has been an abandoned lighthouse. If only we can go up to have a look ;) Around this lighthouse (beside the sea) there were mini wooden booth-like patio for anyone to sit and hang around – just like us :D . Everyone is posing for a picture there.. and of course yours truly too. The sun does take some time to set you know! heheh.

and we waited like for-everrrr for the sun to sink into the sea. my face almost got burnt and eyes got blinded by the brightness of the sun reflected by the sea+sky combined! I was this close to saying “nevermind lar.. can see other time. let’s go!” I am glad I did not! and I’m glad ky did not succumb to his ‘callings’ :D

mini trip to Brunei

September 22, 2008

Since we missed visiting Brunei the first time I was in Miri, we made sure we get it checked in our list of mini places to go this time around, and also to get our passport to finally stamped on! haha.. yaya.. very the “mountain” but that’s our first trip having to use the International Passport! *GASP!* hehe.

Before embarking our journey early Saturday morning, we double-checked on all the places in Brunei that we wanted to see, and brought the map to get there and to get around the town. Yes, we drove there and it is actually not too far from Miri – bout half an hour drive from Miri town to the border, and another 2 hours from Brunei’s custom to Bandar Seri Begawan. It’s a day trip thus we only go around town :)

It was a good day to travel though the sun was a bit too hot and bright. Thank God for air cond! Throughout that 2 hours drive, there’s really nothing much to see except jungle, jungle clearings and more jungles!  :D I soon got bored and heh… dozed off (as usual). Next that I opened my eyes, we reached Bandar Seri Begawan dy! haha. Kesian kat tu driver takde driving companion :P

Colorful Bandar Seri Begawan

Upon reaching, the car’s air-conditioner k.o.ed. It’s blowing air alright, but hot air -____-” and the uber hot weather wasn’t helping either. At first we thought we can just bear with it till we get back to Miri to get it fixed.. but slowly we are suffocating! LOL… First time in Brunei and already the drama! Luckily, we found a row of car-servicing shops and simply picked one to get it checked. While waiting for the mechanic to ‘diagnose’, i saw Mr.Bibendum standing really really high above :) very nice lor! It’s really like he’s among the clouds dy :D

okok.. back to the car’s problem. It turned out that the air-conditioner was all frozen up inside thus the cold air can’t be release.. (somewhere along that line larh) … and the solution is just to turn it down for a while and voila! it functioned normally again! :P wakakaka… The mechanic was kind enough not to charge us for the ‘consultation’ :D After the whole car-drama, we got hungry and started going round and round again looking for that sushi restaurant that, everyone who came to Brunei said, MUST TRY! I know, it’s weird to come all the way to Brunei to eat erm..Sushi. heh.. but since it’s highly recommended, so. This popular sushi place is called Escapade Sushi, located in Gadong.. (around town) and yep, it’s really worth the countless rounds we made to find it. :D Yummy fresh food and not over-priced (mental note: don’t convert currency). The whole place is a bit small and filled with lots of people. Full house and noisy. But overall, a pleasant dining experience.

lovely dish!

jas, your favourite!

I did not take all of the food’s pictures cuz I was too hungry halfway :D and when I’m hungry I tend to order a tad too much. resulted to tapau-ed few sushi back as dinner.. heh.

Right after, we just drove around doing the usual touristy stuff – taking pictures, visiting Museum! Seriously, there’s nothing much to do lor, but I’m glad we went cuz at least now I know how it’s like in Brunei. Since nothing much to describe, i’ll just let the pics do the explaining.

MAJESTIC! very postcard worthy, no? :D

it’s an advertisement

Kampung Ayer

man waiting for the ‘water taxi’

Okok.. this Kampung Ayer is worth mentioning. It’s something quite spectacular. I took these pics standing on the jetty overlooking a whole “kampung” on water! Not ordinary small fishing village but kinda like a bloody SS2 on water! There’s even a school! But what I found ironic there of the village is that most of the villagers own a car..hehe, some luxurious ones some more. They will park them by the road side (near to where i’m standing), then take a “water-taxi” (speedboat) across. One of the ‘taxi-driver’ came by and asked to take us for a tour for 10Dollars (i think) but we did not take it :P . Thus went on to our next stop – the Museum! :D

Yours truly at the Museum’s entrance

hehe.. sorry, but we have to surrender all our belongings, including handphones before entering. Therefore, this is the only pics of the Museum. Nothing fancy inside. Mostly about petroleum and it’s history.. quite empty also, it’s eerie lor. Did a quick tour then cabut.

Next, we went to this very nice and special Mosque. The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. It’s under renovation but still very nice nonetheless. Brunei have the most elaborate mosques I’ve ever came across, and so are the domes. It’s all glittering-gold in color!and this particular mosque’s main dome is made of PURE GOLD! Take that! The replica of a royal barge in front of the mosque is kinda like a stage where boys and girls read quran during events, and it’s in the pond surrounding the mosque. Very unique. My pictures here don’t do the architecture of the mosque any justice. Go ahead and Google it for nicer pics.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

Us in front of the mosque ;)

And that’s our last destination in Bandar Seri Begawan. It also started drizzling and so we drove back to Miri. :) A very educational experience, this trip to Brunei, but I don’t think I’ll be going in a long, long time :D Final pics to end with. toodles!

First of all, thank you auntie ade and everyone else for planning and co-planned the birthday surprise. Infact, it’s a double celebration! Started at Swensen, then back at home for another round.  Jiun, Lim and Max also came by to join the latter one.
